I had been wanting to meet Donny Galella for awhile having been a fan of his style work for a few years.
As a performer I hate thinking about what to wear as quite frankly, my mind is too busy in those last stages of panic, I mean prep – before I leave the house – do I have everything I need, will I remember the lyrics to that song I just learnt, where am I playing tonight, where did I put my guitar (oh, I’m carrying it), why are my car keys in the refrigerator… what’s my name again etc etc
To spend some time with a professional of his calibre was high on my list of priorities for the year. I am a firm believer that if you don’t know something yourself you either learn it, or surround yourself with handpicked experts.
It’s an interesting experience and slightly uncomfortable in the most delicious way. Donny took me on a shopping trip and challenged everything I thought about my shape, shopping habits & how I see myself. In less than 2 hours he showed me how to find amazing items in stores I would normally walk right past in sizes I would never even consider.
Like his FB page, follow him on Instagram and if you want some styling help – book a session with him. Check out his website http://www.donnygalella.com.au/
Oh and yay, a great pic of the 2 of us on the Morning Show 🙂
Musicians are a funny but brave lot. We get up night after night and bare our souls on stage never knowing if people will like us or our sound.
If you are like me, it’s a compulsion, an insatiable hunger that drives. It isn’t about being in the spotlight per se or craving attention – for me it is a healthy & legal way to feel pure joy, PEACE & utter contentment. When I’m performing onstage I feel like time stops and I’m trapped in a delicious moment.
