Well…it was a mixed bag at The Forbes Hotel for the finals. I’ve never competed as a Singer/Guitarist against people performing with backing tracks so it was an interesting mix. Some of it worked, some of it I wished I had my super powered magic remote so I could fast forward.
Competitions that are by vote or how many people you can pull in are great because they really test your ability to detach from outcome. It could be the best performance of your life, or the worst. Whether you have the crowd made of 90% or 10% of your friends you still have to give it the same level of performance charm knowing that it all comes down to popular vote one way or the other. Certainly when the result is out of your hands you get to just have fun with it and give it all on stage.

And it’s only Wednesday!
I made it into the Semi Finals of the Forresters Live Music Battle and will be competing on Valentines Day – yay!
Also I won the Taverners Hill Hotel Comp and the $500 cash prize which is very handy for the newly full time musician. Had great supporters and the owner of the bar loved it – what an awesome night.
It feels like every day is Christmas x
